One fantastic luxury holiday villa in the midst of a centuries-old olive grove
Diddy’s Country, a 10 acres estate with a luxury Mediterranean-style villa with some original star-shaped rooms from early 1900. The estate boasts a large salt-water infinity pool, beautiful gardens and centuries-old olive trees as well as a flood-lit tennis court, large playground and various romantic al fresco dining areas. Ideal for family and friends holidaying together, the booking is exclusive to you and your party. Layer out over two apartments, Abbasciu (the downstairs one in local dialect) and Piccinnu (the little one) for 10 and 5 people respectively. The house is filled with quality furniture and furnishings and boasts a collection of local traditional and modern art. Ideal for all ages, you can stay on the property or explore the surrounding areas by bicycle and may be find your first Trullis, the local traditional cone-shaped houses. A safe environment to relax and play in peace or venture out for sightseeing to your heart’s content. Ideally located to explore all that Puglia has to offer.
Diddy’s Country is in our heart and soul, we took the estate over in 2006 and spent many beautiful holidays here with our kids and their grandparents. In 2016 we started our new adventure to open the house to our guests to share the love.

Abbasciu and Piccinnu
Abbasciu means “downstairs” in the local dialect; it is the bigger apartment on the ground floor and has four double bedrooms, a study with sofa bed, and two bathrooms. It incorporates 3 original star-shaped ceiling rooms from the 1900 and a traditional cellar which used to be the water tank back in its original layout. Abbasciu is ideal for a larger family or two families sharing, the booking is exclusive and the upstairs apartment remains closed unless you book them together for a party of up to 15 people.
Piccinnu means “little one” in the local dialect; it’s on the first floor with its own entrance and its own large terrace. It has two bedrooms and one shower room. It can only be booked as a standalone booking upon request during low season.

Our eat-in kitchen, with direct access to the patio, has all utensils and appliances you might need to create gourmet meals. Adjacent is an utility room with further appliances and an American fridge/freezer.

Piccinnu in the first floor apartment with separate entrance and large private terrace.

We can hire a professional cook for you or our lovely house manager, Cristiana, is a very accomplished cook and can cater for you upon request. Local cuisine is her specialty.

Diddy’s Country is a luxury villa with all amenities. The kitchen is more than complete with all quality appliances and crockery, all furniture and furnishings are of high quality as well as sustainable and locally sourced as far as possible. For children we have cot beds, high chairs, pool toys, many toys for a range of ages, a large playground with a substantial trampoline, quality ride-ons and bicycles, ping pong table, football goal, basketball hoop and balls, tennis court and changing rooms, internal roads. In each apartment there is an Xbox One, a smart TV, a CD player and access to Netflix, and one iPad for communal use, all supported by super fast Starlink wifi.
You can prebook the outdoor cinema (subject to weather conditions).
The piazza can be used for events and can be set up for up to 40 people.

Cancellation policy
In the light of Covid-19, we can offer vouchers for cancelled bookings for up to two years at the same rate for the same booking period.
If you need to cancel or amend your booking you must telephone us as soon as possible. A phone call must be followed by an email for the cancellation to take effect.
You can cancel your booking up to sixty days prior to arrival. After such period, we will retain the Initial Deposit.
If you cancel your booking between 45 and 30 days prior to the Arrival Date, we reserve the right to retain 50% of the Rent. If you cancel the booking 30 days or less prior to arrival, we reserve the right to retain the full rent.
In all circumstances we will try to rent the property again for this period and if so would refund the difference.

Location & nearby attractions
Diddy’s Country is ideally located in the North Salento region of Puglia, up to one hour away from historic towns and beaches.
Restaurants
Puglia is well known for its good food and San Vito and surroundings doesn’t disappoint. There is a good choice of restaurants a short drive away, such as XFood in San Vito, Osteria del Tempo Perso in Ostuni, Cibus in Ceglie Messapica, Gia Sotto l’Arco in Carovigno and just seven minutes from our house Il Brigantino in San Michele Salentino. There are many more modern and traditional, cool restaurants and pizzerias, you could go out every night.
Sightseeing
There is so much to see, you will not have enough time, if you want to leave the property that is! Ostuni is only a 20 minutes drive away, as is Brindisi. Some of the most iconic places are within an hour’s drive such as Alberobello, Martina Franca, Locorotondo, Cisternino, Lecce. There are the Grotte di Castelana caves, roman ruins, World Heritage sites and protected marine areas such as Torre Guaceto. You can visit it all of course, we have prepared a selection for you, follow the link.
Adventure
There is so no shortage of adventure, explore all the beaches and go down to the very bottom of Puglia for some awesome rock jumping into the sea. For children visit the Zoo Safari in Fasano or go to some of the adventure parks. Go on a bike ride (you can borrow our bicycles or bring your own) all the way to the beaches or through the most iconic olive groves with trees up to 1000 years old or simply explore all the little corners by car, you will be amazed.
Bars and lounges
San Vito has some, but you can find very busy bars and lounges in the nearby towns of Ostuni and Brindisi. In San Vito there is Domani Smetto or even an English Pub, P-Beach in Specchiolla which is also a great bar and restaurant, Carovigno is only a 10 minutes’ drive away and San Michele Salentino just about seven minutes away.
Events
There are many local events taking place over the summer (from June to September), San Vito organises free summer concerts on the piazza. Check out the link and also the local tourist information for up to date events.
Biking and hiking
Diddy’s Country has a number of bicycles for you to borrow, there are children’s sizes too. The bicycle routes start just outside the property. You can hike these routes too..
Day trips
There are many fantastic day trips you can take, the caves of Mattera are well worth an outing, you can visit the Caves of Castelana, the Zoo Safari of Fasano another day, go to Santa Maria di Leuca at the tip of Puglia and visit the Pescoluse caves and stop at one of the Maldives-like beaches. Visit the South Salento, Gallipoli and Lecce, stop at Baia Verde or one of the many other fantastic beaches both on the Adriatic and the Ionic side.

Directions from Brindisi
Drive to San Vito dei Normanni on the SS16, in San Vito always follow for Ceglie Messapica (Ceglie M., Ceglie Mco, Ceglie), if there are no signs, follow the road. As soon as you are on the SP30 towards Ceglie, we are the second road on the left (inside the second bend), road signs for “Percorso Cicloturistico”. Take the second gate to the left.
Directions from Bari
Drive towards Brindisi and get off the highway at Spechiolla, drive towards San Vito and always follow the signs for Ceglie Messapica (Ceglie M., Ceglie Mco, Ceglie), if there are no signs follow the road. As soon as you are on the SP30 towards Ceglie, we are the second road on the left (inside the second bend), road signs for “Percorso Cicloturistico”. Take the second gate on the left. Follow the road to the left and you will reach the parking. Take the walkway to the left to reach the house.

We had a wonderful week in Puglia at Diddy’s Country. As three families of 12 in total, the space the house provided was wonderful. The children had places to play out of the sun and were kept entertained for hours. The pool and garden/terrace space was wonderful. This has easily been the best, most well organised and well stocked accommodation we have experienced in all of our European travels. Our children have particularly LOVED every aspect of the property + do not want to leave. We must say a BIG thank you to Cristiana who has been amazing! Wonderful house with everything needed for a fun family holiday. Our daughter, aged five, loved the dolls + all the clothes. Pops, aged 70, loved the go-carts and racing around. It was great as a family relaxing at the swimming pool. For me, Diane, Cristiana was the best!!
